3rd Circuit Slashes $6.25 Million Punitive Award In Insurance Bad Faith Suit

PHILADELPHIA - A jury's $6.25 million punitive damages award to a couple who alleged bad faith on the part of a medical malpractice insurer was unconstitutionally excessive, a Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel held Dec. 24, reducing the award to $1,996,950 (Stephen P. Jurinko and Cynthia Jurinko, h/w as assignees of Paul G. Marcincin v.
